This bronze statue by the sculptor George Gammon Adams commemorates General Sir Charles James Napier (1782-1853) - governor of the British Empire and the British Army's Commander-in-Chief in India, during which period he led the military conquest of Sindh. It was erected in 1856 by means of public subscriptions, the most numerous contributors being private soldiers.
